Anna Kalinskaya è failed to imitate her boyfriend Jannik Sinner (triumphant in Halle) and wasting a beauty of five match points è was defeated in the final of the WTA 500 Berlin 6-7(0) 6-4 7-6(3) by Jessica Pegula.
For the U.S. è it was the fifth tournament won in her career, the first in 2024, which also allowed her to return about 1,000 points from fourth place in the WTA ranking, now belonging to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
Pegula's feat è even more impressive when you consider that she actually won two matches in one day: in fact, on Sunday morning she completed her semifinal match with Coco Gauff, restarting 7-5 6-6 (3-1) and closing the tie-break on 7-2.
