Sarà Barbora Krejcikova will be Jasmine Paolini's opponent in the Wimbledon final
In the second Wimbledon women’s singles semifinal Barbora Krejcikova, world number 32, surprisingly but not too surprisingly beat Russian defending Kazakhstan colors Elena Rybakina with a score of 3-6 6-3 6-4 in 2 hours and 7 minutes of play. It will then be the 28-year-old Czech champion of Roland Garros in 2021 who will challenge Saturday for the world’s most prestigious tennis title Jasmine Paolini.
Rybakina immediately flew to 4-0 but from 3-0 there were as many as four consecutive breaks until 5-2 when Krejcikova finally managed to hold serve after Rybakina missed one of two consecutive set points she had by missing a very easy shot at the net. Regardless, the 2022 Wimbledon champion in turn holds serve and pockets the first partial.
Krejcikova in the second set nullifies a break point in the first game, one in the third and one in the fifth, then è she on 3-2 to break Rybakina’s serve and holds the next two serves that give her the continuation of the match although on the fourth and fifth of the six set points she has at her disposal she commits two double faults, which fortunately for her do not compromise the outcome of the partial.
In the deciding set there are no break points until 3-3, when to lose serve è again Rybakina, in the next game Krejcikova recovers from 0-30 and then, on 5-4, closes authoritatively by holding serve to zero. È her second final in a Grand Slam tournament after the one she won at Roland Garros three years ago, and for the second year in a row there will be a Czech in the decisive act of the women’s sngular of the Championships after Marketa Vondrousova’s crazy triumph last year over Tunisian Ons Jabeur.
