Jannik Sinner equals a Novak Djokovic record after qualifying for Us Open quarterfinals

It is a historic Us Open for the Italian colors: at Flushing Meadows for the first time in tennis history two Italians (Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini) qualified to the quarterfinals of the last Slam of the season. Sinner also hit a precocious record not seen since the days of Novak Djokovic: the South Tyrolean tennis player is the youngest athlete since 2007-08 (precisely since Djokovic) to reach the quarterfinals in all four Slams.

In the coming years, the 21-year-old Italian’s record could be broken by Carlos Alcaraz, who after his victory over Cilic became the youngest tennis player ever (19 years old) to reach the quarterfinals at the US Open for two consecutive years.
