Gp Malaysia, Paolo Simoncelli’s message thirteen years after the tragedy
Motomondiale lands in Malaysia: a difficult trip for Paolo Simoncelli
That accursed October 23, 2011 è is still alive in the eyes of all motorcycling fans, Italian and others: on that day, Marco Simoncelli’s life was tragically cut short in the very early stages of the Malaysian Grand Prix, leaving the entire sporting world stunned. On the eve of the 2024 Malaysian GP, Paolo Simoncelli, dadà of 'Sic', wanted to express a thought about it.
"We let the Gp d’Australia pass by a little bit quietly – wrote the manager of the 'Sic58 Squadra Corse' – and now we are already in one of the races that puts us most to the test, and no, I am not talking about the track. A feeling of love hate for this circuit, it has given us so much and then demanded everything back with interest. One day I will write you a letter, Dear Sepang… and its thousand faces".
Paolo Simoncelli has never wanted to leave the world of motorcycling and, indeed, è currently starring in Moto3 with Filippo Farioli and Luca Lunetta at the helm of the two bikes made available to the team. In the recent Thailand GP, Simoncelli senior was able to celebrate Lunetta’s own brilliant second place, which came behind only David Alonso, the dominator of the season.
"In a world where they are all managers and talent scouts,” explained Paolo Simoncelli speaking precisely about Lunetta’s results, “that should be the real goal of a team in Moto3: Always look for new Alonso…and we think we have found one".
