Torino, What magic: Adams sends Empoli down with a goal from midfield
Empoli-Torino 0-1
The sixteenth day of the Serie A championship opens with the return to victory for Torino after just two points collected in the previous six days: at the 'Castellani' in Empoli, the granata team imposes 1-0, taking advantage in the best way possible of a sensational goal by Che Adams, which will prove to be decisive at the triple whistle for the award of the three points.
The match struggled to break through, although there was no shortage of chances: the first half saw a goal disallowed on 16' for the hosts, to Ismajli (foul by Maleh on Milinkovic-Savic on the development of a corner) and a couple of chances for the guests, with Vasquez miraculous on Ricci on 32' and three minutes later on Sanabria. At halftime, therefore, it goes to 0-0.
The resumption sees Empoli close to scoring at 53': Cacace, però, does not frame the goal from a very good position. The pace seems to drop, but at 70'comes the decisive episode: the ball arrives just over the midfield line to Che Adams (who entered just before in place of Sanabria), the Scot sees Vasquez off the posts and beats him with a spectacular volley from almost fifty meters.
Roberto D'Aversa, Empoli coach, responded to the goal with the entries of Sambia at 80'and Konaté at 90', in place of Colombo and Goglichidze, respectively, while on the bench nervousness rose so much that one of the reserves, De Sciglio, was sent off by referee Bonacina in the very first of the four minutes of added time. Toro defended with order and closed with the success, which allowed the granata to join right Empoli in tenth place provisionally, with 19 points to their credit.
