Modena has a new coach: Andrea Sottil

Through an official note Modena has announced the name of the new coach: Andrea Sottil. The Piedmontese coach signed a two-year contract with the yellow-blue club: he is the 106th coach in the club’s history.
Born in 1974 in Venaria Reale, Andrea Sottil boasts an important career in Italian soccer, first as a central defender and then as a coach. He grew up footballing in Torino, and has worn the jerseys of Fiorentina, Atalanta, Udinese, Reggina, Genoa, Catania, and Rimini in Serie A and B, totaling more than 400 appearances as a professional.
The club’s first goal was to play in the Serie A and B.
Hanging up his boots, in 2011 Sottil embarked on a path as a coach in continuous growth, taking several satisfactions. In 2015/16 he led Syracuse to victory in the Serie D championship. In the following season, again with the Sicilian club, he achieved a historic 4th place on his debut in the professionals, qualifying for the playoffs for Serie B.
In 2017/18 he led Livorno to promotion to Serie B, winning the Group A of Serie C. Another important milestone came in 2020/21, when he took over on Dec. 23 to lead Ascoli last with 6 points in the standings, leading the team to direct salvation thanks to a resounding turnaround. In the following season he finished 6th, earning a playoff berth with the Marche bianconeri.
Finally, in 2022/23 he made his Serie A debut at the helm of Udinese, with which he was the protagonist of an extraordinary start to the season: six consecutive victories, including those against Inter and Roma, and a championship that ended with a quiet salvation and the enhancement of numerous players. Last season he took Andrea Pirlo’s place on the Sampdoria bench, leading the blucerchiati until December.
