Short time at the World Swimming Championships being held in Singapore. On the night, the women’s 10 km was supposed to be held with the participation of Italy’s Ginevra Taddeucci and Barbara Pozzobon. In fact, the race was postponed.
The reason? The’water at the race venue (Palawan Beach, on the island of Sentosa) did not give the right guarantees. This was announced by the World Championships Organizing Committee in an official statement on its portal.
“World Aquatics, in coordination with the Singapore 2025 Organizing Committee, has postponed the women’s 10-kilometer, open-water swimming event at the Singapore 2025 World Swimming Championships due to water quality levels exceeding acceptable thresholds“ the words of the statement.
“Although tests over the past few days have consistently shown that the quality of the’water at the event’s venue met World Aquatics’ minimum requirements, analysis of samples taken on July 13 exceeded the minimum acceptance threshold. The decision to postpone the competition was made in the best interest of the health and safety of the athletes, which remains the top priority of World Aquatics and the Singapore 2025 Organizing Committee“, the closing of the same official statement. Impossible not to think of what happened in Paris at the Olympics with the issues related to the waters of the Seine.
