Liverpool big spender: Wirtz the most expensive purchase in the Premier

Last summer, Liverpool invested “only” 42 million euros in the market. This year, also accomplice to the national title won, the Reds are overdoing it. At the moment, nearly 320 million euros are being spent to strengthen the team and, in fact, try to win the Champions League.
The most prestigious purchase is, without a shadow of a doubt, that of Wirtz. To wrest him from Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool put as much as 136 million euros (including all variables) on the plate. A monster sum that made the Wirtz coup the’most expensive purchase in the history of the rich Premier League.
Broken, in fact, the record of Chelsea, which had paid as much as 133 million euros to get Moisés Caicedo to wear the Blues’ jersey. Wirtz’s purchase also entered the Top 5 of the most expensive market hits ever, behind Neymar (PSG), Mbappé (PSG), Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona) and Dembélé (Barcelona).
Liverpool, in addition to Wirtz, also invested heavily to get Frimpong, Kerkez and Ekitike. The total? Almost 320 million euros. Yet another demonstration that, Saudi Pro League aside, the Premier League is the most powerful and richest league around. With exceptions for a handful of European clubs, no one keeps up with the English clubs, certainly not the Italian ones.
