Italbasket: Donte DiVincenzo injured, no European Championships

Donte DiVincenzo is forgoing the 2025 European Basketball Championships due to a flare-up of a foot problem.

He announced this himself in a video broadcast during a press conference organized at the Coni Palace in Milan with the presence of coach Gianmarco Pozzecco and National Team Coordinator Gigi Datome.

“Unfortunately in the last days a physical problem does not allow me to be with Italbasket. I look ahead, the goal remains to make a path together with the team for the next tournaments, the World Cup and the Olympics”.

In his place will be summoned Darius Thompson, a point guard who has just signed with Valencia and has Italian citizenship by marriage.

DiVincenzo, guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, had just been granted Italian citizenship, which arrived for sporting merit on July 17 with the signature of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
