Carlos Alcaraz returns to rivalry with Jannik Sinner and dots the i’s and t’s

Waiting for the next big direct clash with Jannik Sinner, after those in the finals at the Internazionali d’Italia, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz returned to talk about his relationship with the’from Alto Adige, during an interview with the ’Financial Times’, also giving a behind-the-scenes look at the Paris match in which he cancelled three match points and then came back to win.

“What did I think? Simply the’only goal was to come back little by little: first one point, then another, then another – said the Murcian -. Closing a Grand Slam is very, very difficult, I knew I could build a chance. That’s why I stayed calm. I knew it would not be easy for him. At no time did I doubt that I could come back”.

The relationship between the two is definitely cordial: a friendly rivalry that fans enjoy: “Even though tennis is an individual sport, we are always with the same players every week, day in and day out… Jannik and I, who have had great battles on the court, see each other often off as well. “We want to win and beat each other, but off the field it&#8217s nice to get along. To me, this is one of the true values of sports” Alcaraz further explained. The two have faced each other 14 times in their careers (13 if only the major circuit is counted): the Murcian has won on 9 occasions (8 on the ATP Tour, one at Challenger level), Sinner, on the other hand, has prevailed 5 times.
