F1, Christian Horner furious with Ferrari and Mercedes: “Defamatory and unacceptable statements”
Red Bull’s team principal doesn’t mince words
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner used a proverb to respond to statements, regarding the alleged failure to meet the 2021 budget cap, by Ferrari’s sporting director Laurent Mekies and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff: “Those in a glass house should not throw stones.”
“Opponents have made defamatory and unacceptable statements, not coincidentally on the very first weekend when Max Verstappen can win the world title. I don’t think this is a coincidence. Our opponents are hiding their poor performance on the track behind these statements. The FIA itself has emphasized that the discussion on the expense items included in the budget cap is still ongoing,” continued the Austrian team’s executive, as reported by ‘racingnews365.com’.
In fact, Mekies and Wolff have called for the FIA to intervene with heavy sanctions against the reigning world champion team, which is poised to win another constructors’ title.
