One of the images that will be most remembered of the current edition of the U.S. Open is the one that featured Selcuk Acar, the photographer who entered the court Sunday night as Benjamin Bonzi was preparing to make a second serve with match point against Daniil Medvedev.

Medvedev went ballistic when the chair judge, Greg Allensworth, again conceded the first serve to his opponent. The show came next.

To pay the price was the photographer, who was asked to leave the Billie Jean King Tennis Center, escorted and without his accreditation. Daniil Medvedev’s match was interrupted for more than six minutes between points.

“I consider myself a victim and declare myself innocent” Acar said, according to British press reports.

The USTA, through its press office, gave a different version of events: “He had received instructions not to enter and ignored them”.
