World Paralympic Track and Field Championships kick off, Carlo Calcagni first blue protagonist

The 2025 edition of the World Paralympic Athletics Championships will begin Saturday, Sept. 27, on the tracks of New Delhi, India. The rainbow event, which will see star athletes compete at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will last eight days and will conclude on Oct. 5. Several Italians are competing, with Carlo Calcagni the first blue protagonist.

Calcagni, a Colonel on the Honor Roll of the Italian Army, Victim of Duty and Mutilated for Service, will be at the start at 3:05 p.m. Italian time of the first round of the 400 meters category T72, in which he holds the world record. The final is then scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Sunday 28. Calcagni will also be engaged in the 100 meters category T72 on Tuesday, 30: qualifying round at 6:35 a.m. Italian time, final at 2:31 p.m.

The other blue athletes engaged in India are Antonella Inga in the long jump T12 category, Marco Cicchetti in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump T44, Maxcel Amo Manu and Francesco Loragno in the 100 and 200 meters T64, Oney Tapia in the shot put F11, Ambra Sabatini in the long jump and 100 meters T63, Ndiaga Dieng in the 800 and 1.500 meters T20, Assunta Legnante in the discus throw F11 and F12, Riccardo Bagaini in the 400 meters T47, Oxana Corso in the shot put F35, Arjola Dedaj in the long jump T11, Giuliana Chiara Filippi in the 200 meters T64.

The latter is the first of the two.

This year&#8217s is the 12th edition of the World Paralympic Athletics Championships. The last edition, held in 2024 in Kobe, Japan, saw Italy win two gold medals, with Carlo Calcagni in the 100 meters T72 category and Oney Tapia in the discus throw reserved for the F11 category.
