Learner Tien vents after being run over by Jannik Sinner: "Impossible"

Learner Tien at a press conference explained what it is like to play against Jannik Sinner in a tournament final. The young U.S. tennis player was overwhelmed in Beijing: “Wow, it was a very difficult match. I couldn’t read his serve at any time, and that was a real torment for me because I generally feel comfortable responding and build my confidence in matches like that, putting pressure on my opponent when I respond. Against him, it was impossible”.
“It is amazing the pressure he puts on you at all times. I felt like I couldn”t hurt him with my serve and that completely affected my performance”.
The American is very happy with his progress: “It was a great week. I think I am learning a lot week by week, gaining experience and improving as a tennis player. It is my first full season on the tour, so I think what I am experiencing will be a great step forward for my professional career”.
For his growth, coach Michael Chang has been instrumental: “I have never worked with a coach who has played at the highest level and has his experience. He is helping me a lot because he knows exactly what I am experiencing on a daily basis. He has opened my eyes, bringing new perspectives to my tennis”.
