Charles Leclerc is saved: the decision after the bang with Lando Norris

Charles Leclerc is saved, after the disaster of free practice in Singapore. During Friday’s FP2, in fact, the Ferrari driver had carelessly left the pits colliding in the pitlane with Lando Norris’ McLaren. With the British driver finished against the barriers, it seemed inevitable that a penalty would be incurred on Sunday’s Grand Prix grid for “Unsafe Release”. Instead, race officials made a different kind of decision.
.
For what happened in the Marina Bay pit lane, in fact, Ferrari will have to pay a fine of 10 thousand euros. No consequences, on the other hand, for Leclerc himself, who was exonerated by the marshals and will therefore be able to field his SF-25 number 16 in the grid position he manages to earn during Saturday’s qualifying.
They will have to pay a fine of 10,000 euros.
The following is the explanation from the statement issued by the FIA: “Leclerc was first instructed by a team member to leave his pit box. At that moment, however, it was not noticed that Norris was already in fastlane, approaching the Ferrari pit and thus directly entered Leclerc’s path. The team member in charge of the safety of the restart of the #16 car misjudged the situation and gave unclear instructions to Leclerc, who could not see Norris”.
Thereby comes a positive note in a Friday that for Ferrari seemed to start well only to end in the worst way. Net of the collision with Norris, in fact, Leclerc ended FP2 with the ninth time ahead of Lewis Hamilton tenth. Results markedly different from those of the morning free practice, which ended with the Monegasque second and the’Englishman fourth.
