Marc-André ter Stegen, the possibility of a Serie A landing remains alive

Now on the fringes of Barcelona’s technical project, bypassed by both Wojciech Szczesny and Joan Garcia, Marc-André ter Stegen is looking around to see what will become of his future: the German goalkeeper, class of 1992, is of interest in the Premier League (Manchester United is at the window, despite Senne Lammens’ good approach to English soccer) but the hypothesis of his landing in Serie A has not been definitively ruled out.

The German goalkeeper, class of 1992, is interested in the Premier League (Manchester United is at the window, despite Senne Lammens’ good approach to English soccer) but the possibility of his landing in Serie A has not been definitively ruled out.

At Barcelona since 2014, having arrived in Catalonia after years at his hometown team Borussia Mönchengladbach, Ter Stegen comes from a nightmarish season, with a serious injury affecting his number of total appearances, and over the last summer he saw the captain&#8217s armband slipped from his arm, now the prerogative of Ronald Araujo.

The contract linking Ter Stegen to the Catalan club expires in 2028 but an early farewell, contingent on a consensual termination of the agreement, seems increasingly likely. A move that would open up several possibilities, including an arrival in Italy&#8217s top league: AC Milan had sounded out the ground at the time when Mike Maignan&#8217s stay seemed in doubt, while Inter could set their sights on the German for after Sommer.

The market value, in any case, has decreased compared to the best seasons (according to Transfermarkt, it has gone from 90 million in 2019 to 8 million now) and this could induce Barça to try to monetize in January anyway, then opting for the termination of the existing contract at the end of the season if no offers deemed congruous arrive during the winter market.
