When Jannik Sinner plays in Paris: background with Felix Auger-Aliassime

Today on the Central Court of the Defense Arena Jannik Sinner, world number 2, will play the final of the Paris Masters 1000 against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, number 10.
The South Tyrolean outfielder goes in the hunt for his 23rd shot on the ATP major circuit, his fifth this year and fifth in a 1000 (but the first in 2025) against the 25-year-old North American, who winning today against Alexander Bublik snatched the eighth position from Lorenzo Musetti, the last spot needed to enter the ATP Finals in Turin.
Auger-Aliassime has won three of his eight career ATP tournaments this year but has yet to win a Masters 1000, and the only final he reached in this category of tournaments he lost last year in Madrid to Andrey Rublev of Russia. The previous record between Sinner and FAA is four, with two wins on each side.
Auger-Aliassime won in the round of 16 in Madrid in 2022 6-1 6-2 and again in the same year in the round of 16 in Cincinnati 2-6 7-6 6-1. Both of Jannik’s wins this year, however: 6-0 6-2 in the Cincinnati quarterfinals and 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the US Open semifinals. Today’s match will not begin until 3 p.m.
