Collar d'Oro al Merito Sportivo 2025 to Carlo Calcagni: the ceremony

On Nov. 3, 2025, Colonel Carlo Calcagni, Victim of Duty, Wounded and Maimed in Service, athlete of the Defense Paralympic Sports Group, will be awarded the Collar d’Oro al Merito Sportivo, the highest honor bestowed by CONI on athletes who have honored Italian sports with extraordinary achievements and their human example.

The ceremony will be held in Rome, in the presence of the highest sports and institutional officials, and will be broadcast live on Rai 2 starting at 11:00 a.m. Here is the link to witness the event firsthand.

The award of the Collar d’Oro al Merito Sportivo honors Carlo Calcagni not only for a sports career studded with successes and world records, but also for a life dedicated to courage, solidarity and witnessing universal values.

Colonel Calcagni represents the’example of someone who, despite being scarred by illness and the wounds of duty, continues every day to honor sports, life and the Fatherland, with the same determination that has always distinguished him: “Never give up, despite everything and everyone, no matter what the cost”.
