Dorothea Wierer doesn’t mince words: "I didn’t think I would go like this"

Italy is immediately a protagonist in the Biathlon World Cup: in the women’s relay in Östersund, the first commitment of the season, the Italian quartet composed of Dorothea Wierer, Michela Carrara, Lisa Vittozzi and Hannah Auchentaller finished in second place, finishing just 13″8 from winning France. Rounding out the podium was the Czech Republic, guinta at 30″8 from the French.
Particularly beaming is Dorothea Wierer herself, who savors again the taste of standing on the World Cup podium two years after the’last time: “I am very happy – explained the Italian athlete at the finish line -. I didn’t think I would do so well right away, also because in the last two days I did not feel so good compared to the Norwegian preparation races”.
“I stayed focused on the work I had to do, without looking at others. I had very good skis, I thank the staff that put us in the best condition” then concludes Wierer, author of a brilliant first fraction that proved to be important for the continuation of the race, managed first by Carrara, then by Vittozzi and finally by Auchentaller.
The race was a good one.
It is Carrara herself who rejoices, among other things, for the first podium in her CdM career, albeit with a minimum of regret: “On the ground I shot perhaps with too much haste, although I went to the range with confidence. My first podium? Certainly it is a feeling I am not used to, however, it is a satisfaction. I am pleased for the whole team, it is important to start the season well”.
