Stan Wawrinka announces retirement at the end of 2026

Swiss Stan Wawrinka, 40, has announced on social media that he will retire at the end of the 2026 season.

"I no longer believe in a clean sport", had been the Swiss tennis player’s tweet, which had made much discussion
Now the'Helvetic in a press conference in Naples clarified: "E' a difficult subject to deal with"

Then a message to Jannik: "I like to see him and Alcaraz play, I hope they go strong in the coming years"

“Every book needs a conclusion. It is time to write the’last chapter of my professional tennis career. 2026 will be my last year on the tour. I still want to push my limits and end my career in the best way”.

Stan Wawrinka won the Australian Open in 2014, Roland Garros in 2015, and the US Open in 2016, amid the dominance of the trio Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and has won a total of 16 Atp titles, the last of which was in Geneva in 2017. He won the Davis Cup with Federer in 2014.

Born in Lausanne on March 28, 1985, he was world No. 3 in January 2014 and currently ranks 157th. According to the ATP, he is expected to play in Perth in early January to begin his final season.
