After the first movements already recorded in the past nights, the NBA market finally gets into full swing on the eve of the trade deadline, set for tomorrow at 9 p.m. Italian time. Indeed, the first real bombshell arrives: James Harden has been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, while the Los Angeles Clippers welcome Darius Garland along with a future second-round pick. The deal represents a huge graft for Cleveland, which places a player of Harden’s caliber alongside Donovan Mitchell.

The two thus become the only pair of teammates in the NBA to simultaneously travel above 25 points and average 5 assists per game, raising the Cavs’ offensive potential significantly. For Harden, this is the sixth career franchise, following the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers. Garland, on the other hand, is leaving Cleveland for the first time: the Cavaliers had selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 Draft and, in three of the last four seasons, he had averaged more than 20 points in the regular season.

LeBron James meanwhile will also participate in the 2026 All Star Game. The confirmation came from the NBA itself, which, before the game between LA Lakers and New York Knicks (yellow-viola defeated 112-100), announced the reserves for the star-studded competition (Feb. 15). On the list, as the last participant, was the name of King James who, at 41 years of age, will play his 22nd consecutive All Star Game. A fabulous number, an all-time record in league history. Yet another LBJ masterpiece.

In addition to LeBron James, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray, Oklahoma City Thunder long man Chet Holmgren and Portland Trail Blazers hopeful Deni Avdija were chosen as Western Conference reserves, as well as Minnesota Timberwolves All Star Anthony Edwards (fourth All Star Game) and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker (fifth participation).

In the Eastern Conference, Karl-Anthony Towns, in his sixth All-Star selection, received a call-up along with Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (seventh All Star Game), Indiana Pacers wing Pascal Siakam (fourth), Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and three first-time players: Jalen Duran (Detroit Pistons), Norman Powell (Miami Heat) and Jalen Johnson (Atlanta Hawks).
