Rebecca Passler, a dramatic discovery confirmed her bona fides

The story of Rebecca Passler, initially excluded for being positive for letrozole and reinstated after the NADO Italy Court of Appeal certified that her intake of the substance was totally accidental, has taken on dramatic contours that go far beyond the sports issue. The investigation into the positivity brought to light a decidedly painful fact: Rebecca&#8217s mother, Herlinde Kargruber, is undergoing endocrine therapy with that very drug to treat a breast cancer, about which she had told her daughter nothing, choosing to tell her after the Olympic Games.

The truth is that the drug was not used in the Olympics.

According to the reconstruction, the contamination allegedly occurred on Jan. 25, the day before the doping control. Passler had been eating at home with his family, even sharing a spoon with his mother as they consumed hazelnut spread. Not knowing about the disease or the treatment Mrs. Kargruber was undergoing, the daughter had no reason to pay attention to any risks. The detected dose, which was extremely low, strengthened the credibility of the reconstruction.

In Milan Cortina, where the Winter Olympics are taking place, it has been a spectacular but also very hard week for some athletes.
Terrible the'injury happened to Lindsey Vonn.
The U.S. champion got a multiple fracture in her left tibia.
Promptly rescued she underwent more than one surgery.
Gaon Choi, a South Korean snowboarder who specializes in the'halfpipe, was the protagonist of a bad fall.
The injury seemed serious, but fortunately it was not. And then she won the'gold.
There were scary moments for Canadian Megan Oldham as well.
Great apprehension there'was also for Liu Jiayu.
Thankfully nothing broken after the ruinous fall into the'half-pipe.
Big scare also for one'other Canadian, Elizabeth Hosking.
Dane Menzies got away with no damage after bumping into snow.
The'Italian Maria Gassliter avoided the worst by using her arms.

New Zealand’s Luca Harrington recovered immediately and also took the bronze.

The National Court of Appeal in Nado Italy thus recognized the so-called “fumus boni iuris” finding plausible unintentional intake and unknowing contamination. It therefore lifted the provisional suspension, allowing Passler to participate in the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics. FISI welcomed the decision, while the athlete thanked those who supported her in days marked by shock, fear and uncertainty. Now it remains to await the judgment of the TNA.

“These have been very difficult days –Rebecca Passler told official Federation channels -I have always believed in my good faith. I thank everyone who helped me, from the lawyers who followed my situation, to the Italian Winter Sports Federation, to my family and friends. Now I can finally go back to focusing one hundred percent on biathlon”.

A class of 2001, originally from Rasun-Anterselva, Rebecca Passler will therefore participate in the last competitions of the Olympic biathlon program, which will be held in the South Tyrolean resort itself: in particular, she will be able to take part in the women’s 4×6 km relay on Wednesday, February 18, and in the 12.5 km mass start on Saturday, February 21.
