Dorothea Wierer’s amazing career ended with a beautiful fifth place in the women’s 12.5 km mass start at Milan Cortina 2026. The biathlete from Anterselva completed the race in 37:48.1, just 30 seconds slower than the new Olympic champion, France&#8217s Oceane Michelon (already winner of gold in the relay and silver in the sprint). At the finish line, Wierer was greeted by a bouquet of flowers as well as the enthusiasm of all her colleagues and the entire blue staff, giving those present a moment of pure emotion.

The 2019 in Östersund was a golden year: Wierer won the mass start, also adding a silver in the mixed singles and a bronze in the mixed relay. The pinnacle came in Antholz 2020, with rainbow titles in the individual and pursuit, a silver in the mass start and single mixed, and bronze in the mixed relay. In Oberhof 2023 she then further enriched the collection with gold in the women’s relay and silver in the mixed relay.

In the World Cup, moreover, Dorothea Wierer has shown extraordinary continuity: she has won the overall standings for two consecutive years, in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, as well as four Specialty Cups (two in the individual, one in the pursuit, and one in the mass start). His total victories in the World Cup are 14, distributed among individual, mass start, pursuit and sprint events. There are 47 individual podiums, while the overall total, including relays and mass events, comes to 88: 24 wins, 32 second places and 32 third places.
