Barcelona will hold presidential elections in mid-March, which will decide the future of the Spanish club. Regardless of who wins, the executives of the Spanish champion club already have well in mind the priority of the upcoming summer market: rebuilding the attack at Hansi Flick’s disposal.

Robert Lewandowski&#8217s future seems already decided: the Polish striker&#8217s contract expires in June, and the club seems intent on not extending it. The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund forward could leave Spain after four years to move overseas to MLS.

Barcelona has several world-class strikers on its purchase list, such as Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus, but according to the latest rumors in recent weeks, the odds for Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush have risen a lot.

According to Sport reports, the Egyptian player could be designated as Lewandowski’s successor. Marmoush moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to Manchester City in January 2025 for a fee close to 75 million euros. The striker missed part of the season due to a knee injury and is not a starter in Pep Guardiola’s lineup. He has played 24 official matches this year, including just nine from the first minute.

According to Sport, Barcelona wants to sign him in the summer for less than Manchester City paid over a year ago. Marmoush has a contract with the Sky Blues until 2029 and has a great deal of experience in the German league, having played there from 2017 to 2025 with the shirts of Wolfsburg, St. Pauli, Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Sky Blues have a lot of experience in the German league.

The purchase of Marmoush was reportedly recommended by Hansi Flick himself, who esteems his qualities and believes he can integrate perfectly into his system of play.
