Sepang, Saturday with more shadows than lights for Max Biaggi
Max Biaggi expected more
Max Biaggi, owner of the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, expected a decidedly different Saturday. In fact, on the qualifying day, Ayumu Sasaki did not go beyond the third row – he will start from seventh on Sunday -, while John McPhee continued to have brake problems and will even start from 22nd place.
The Sterilgarda team boss commented on qualifying as follows, “”The starting position is not decisive in Moto3 and this has been proven time and time again. Having said that, however, today I expected both of our riders to gain a few more positions on the grid. Ayumu has the extenuating circumstance of getting his time without taking advantage of a slipstream, which we know how decisive it can be, on the long straights of Sepang International Circuit. I am, on the other hand, sorry for John. After the problems he had yesterday, he should have gained direct access to Q2 so that he could play for the top positions.”
“In the race tomorrow we will have to push right from the start and avoid destroying the tires,” Biaggi concluded.
