Jorge Lorenzo in top ten at Mugello: challenge to Valentino Rossi begins
Jorge Lorenzo at Mugello hit his second best result in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia
Jorge Lorenzo continues his adventure in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia championship: the former MotoGp rider on Saturday at Mugello achieved his second best result in the championship, at the wheel of a Porsche 992 Gt3 Cup of the Q8 Hi-Perform team.
The five-time motorcycle world champion, who made his racing debut last April, highlighted his progress to the microphones of Ansa: “It was a very consistent race, there were no penalties or retirements of drivers ahead of me, so it was a real and deserved ninth position. Too bad about that wheel lock at the last corner of the circuit that caused me to lose a position when I was eighth, otherwise I could have tried to retake even sixth or seventh place.”
Lorenzo, who in recent weeks has not ruled out a future GT confrontation with Valentino Rossi, was greeted in Tuscany by many fans: “A lot of people came here who love me and want to see me. We take a lot of pictures and I’m happy because this championship is growing and I’m having a lot of fun.” On Sunday, however, Lorenzo was forced to retire after being rear-ended by another rider.
