Milinkovic-Savic: “After the matches we tease each other.”
In a long interview granted to Torino’s official channels, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic told about his arrival in Italy and how important his brother Sergej was: “When the call from Toro arrived, I asked Sergej a billion questions. He told me that in Italy you live well and the level of soccer is very high, I chose to come here. I love Turin, it is beautiful and quiet: that is what a footballer needs.”
“I was close to basketball,” he continued, “I am good at all sports, I had many options but in the end I chose soccer. I’m a bit lazy and I don’t like to run, so when I was 12 I became a goalkeeper. In the beginning I was an attacker, I was very strong. Had I continued in attack I would be the new Ibrahimovic, who is my idol. In soccer it has become normal for a goalkeeper to be good with his feet, even in the future they will look for it all. I would give anything to play a game outside, not always attached to the goal.”
Milinkovic-Savic then told some backstory: “After matches we tease each other by watching clips, if a match doesn’t go well I stay angry for 2-3 days but then I immediately focus on the next one. On the field we have to be focused, but it is also important to have fun with Juric we train a lot and hard. We have to be there for each other, this helps you move forward on the field and off.”
In closing, the Torino goalkeeper also talked about his passion for animals, “I’ve always had dogs and cats. I would like to make a small zoo in my house, with as many animals as possible, except those that could eat me. Parrots, iguanas, giraffes, zebras…. I like all animals and I like going to the zoo. Favorite dog? A Doberman. But at home I have a dogo de Bordeaux, because it is calmer. A Doberman is challenging, you have to take him for a run. I am tired when I come home and I like to sleep, so I got a quiet dog to sleep together with.”
