Jannik Sinner, after securing a spot in the semifinals at Indian Wells, commented on the importance of the’experience compared to Tien, still emerging and swept away in just over an&#8217 hour: “That definitely helps and I always try to prepare as best I can. He is very talented and I am sure he will be a protagonist many more times. He was very aggressive in the beginning, but I played well and this was a very important match for me”.

Bublik will debut Saturday at the Indian Wells tournament

On preparation for the tournament: “We arrived here very early, with intense heat before the tournament started. We did long workouts to get the body used to it and be better on the court. I am trying to improve this aspect after the problems I encountered in Australia. I am very satisfied with my preparation”.

Finally, on today’s match and the semifinal with Zverev: “It was not an easy match, but starting with a break at the beginning of both sets helped a lot. The next challenge will be tough, especially against Sascha: responding to his shots will be complicated. Tomorrow it will be important to have a rest day. I am happy”.

Tien for his part had it coming: “It will be a very tough match– he had said on the eve -. Both he and Fonseca are players who hit the ball incredibly well and when they play at the highest level they can almost take the racket out of your hand. It will be a great challenge but it is precisely to play matches like these that we work every day”.

Sinner and Tien had already faced each other last October in the final of the ATP 500 in Beijing in which the Azzurro triumphed rather sharply: 6-2 6-2 was the final score by which the South Tyrolean champion repeated his success at the ‘China Open’ after winning the title in 2023. There, the world number two overcame Daniil Medvedev in the final act.
