Kalidou Koulibaly leaves, Chelsea awaits him: final goodbye to Napoli
The new adventure is upon us, and comes the farewell to his now former fans.
Kalidou Koulibaly from next season will play for Chelsea, so much so that he left Friday to join his new teammates who are in California. All after undergoing medical examinations on Thursday in London. The Blues have prepared a 10-million-a-year contract for him, valid until 2026. Napoli, on the other hand, will get 40 million euros from the deal.
Koulibaly, however, wanted to say goodbye to Napoli with a long message on Instagram. “June 1, 2014, an unforgettable date: my arrival in Naples, the beginning of a story of pure love. I was a shy boy, but with so much desire to prove to the world that I could do it! Victories, defeats, joys, disappointments. Too many emotions experienced together: impossible to summarize them. But I keep everything: in my mind, in my heart,” wrote the Senegalese defender.
Then Koulibaly wanted to emphasize the importance of the experience in the Azzurri for his career and life. “In Naples my two sons were born,” he recalled, “I met people who will forever be part of my life and who made me and my family feel at home: from the first to the last moment. Thanks to you, Napoli, I became the man I am today. Thanks to the club, the president, the coaches, all my teammates and all the people I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.”
“Thank you, Naples and Neapolitans, for all the love we have given each other. I am proud to have honored you with all of myself and I will continue, ad infinitum, to carry you in my heart and have for you one of the most important feelings for me: respect. You have been, for me, everything. Now I feel I have to leave and get back into the game: it’s time for a new adventure,” Koulibaly concluded.
