Moto2: Fernandez victory and overtaking, but Celestino Vietti doesn’t give up
A difficult Sunday, but optimism remains.
Celestino Vietti is no longer leader of the Moto2 standings, after his sixth place finish at the British Grand Prix. The winner was in fact Augusto Fernandez, first at Silverstone and now leading the World Championship. Also on the podium were Alonso Lopez, passed on the last lap, and Jake Dixon. Only 12th was Tony Arbolino.
Complex Sunday then for Celestino Vietti, who commented on his race at the end of the day as follows, “I’m quite happy with sixth place, considering everything that happened over the weekend. We have to see the glass half full, this was one of the most difficult tracks for me.”
Vietti infact had to recover after the long lap at the start. “The first lap was the most complicated, I lost a lot of positions and contact with the very first ones. Then the penalty and the rescue with the elbow. I knew there was a pothole and I was good, but at the same time lucky. Let’s stay focused towards Austria, we can be among the protagonists again,” assured the Mooney VR46 Racing Team centaur.
