Italvolley women: third ring for Azzurre, but what a struggle with Belgium
21-25, 30-28, 29-27 and 25-9 the partials in favor of the Blue sextet
Third consecutive victory – and supremacy confirmed in Pool A – for Davide Mazzanti’s women’s Italvolley. After the successes against Cameroon and Puerto Rico, Italy dropped the hat trick by beating Belgium as well, at the end of a match that was tight for at least three sets. Next commitment on Thursday, September 29 at 6 p.m. against Kenya.
The Italian girls struggled hard to get the better of the ‘Yellow Tigers,’ who took the first set 25-21, led by a wild Britt Herbots, who scored a total of 28 points in the match. In the hard-fought second set, talia prevailed 30-28, but without yet completely wearing down the opposition’s resistance.
In the third set, in fact, it was still a lively fight, with ours eventually prevailing with a score of 29-27. In the fourth set, on the wave of enthusiasm, Paola Egonu and her teammates left no chance to Belgium, annihilated 25-9.
