Mauro Forghieri, the moving memory of Mattia Binotto
The words of Mattia Binotto
Mattia Binotto recalled Mauro Forghieri, Ferrari’s historic technical director.
“Today is a very sad day for all of us at Scuderia Ferrari. We mourn the passing of Mauro Forghieri, one of the most extraordinary figures in our history. Appointed head of the team at the age of 27, with his brilliant insights he was one of the last total engineers in the world of motor racing. I happened to meet him on several occasions and each time it was a special emotion: his charisma remained intact over time. His revolutionary ideas, together with his fiery character and ability to be a great motivator, allowed him to write some of the most significant pages in Ferrari’s history and nurture the myth of the Prancing Horse like few others. We will all miss him.”
Ferrari was founded in 1947 by Enzo Ferrari, in Maranello, in the province of Modena. It is involved in the Formula One world championship, where it holds the record for the number of world Constructors’ titles won (16), and in the FIA Sport Prototypes and Endurance world championships. The official symbol is that of the prancing horse on a yellow background, the color representing the city of Modena.
