Two solar years as specialty leader for Sofia Goggia

Overjoyed, indeed elated after her second success in two days in Lake Louise, Sofia Goggia is also celebrating a record of considerable importance at the downhill level: since December 19, 2020, the athlete from Bergamo has been wearing the red bib symbolizing the record in the specialty, and she has never let it go.

“I’m very satisfied,” Goggia said at the end of the race, “from the coaches’ corner down I skied exactly as I wanted, threading the wanted lines and took the ramps perfectly. For sure the wind bothered me coming out of the flat, but overall I led a much more concrete race than on Friday, I had a winning set up.”

“I’m happy because I won two out of two downhills and that was the goal I set for myself, when you think about it it’s practically two years I’ve been wearing the red bib, I think it’s an incredible thing. Now there is no time to get distracted, the focus must compulsorily go to the super-giant,” concluded the champion from Bergamo.
