Sofia Goggia makes it two for two in Lake Louise, Federica Brignone’s record is one step away
Second downhill victory for Sofia Goggia within twenty-four hours
Sofia Goggia confirms herself as the queen of speed in the Alpine Ski World Cup: after Friday’s success in the first downhill in Lake Louise, Canada, the Bergamo native also won the next round on Saturday, thus reaching 19 triumphs in the CdM, bringing her closer to Federica Brignone, Italy’s record-holder, who has collected 20 successes so far.
Goggia, who completed the downhill in a time of 1:28.06, was 34 hundredths ahead of Austria’s Nina Ortlieb and 37 hundredths ahead of Switzerland’s Corinne Suter. Also good, for an Italy celebrating overall victory number 114 in the women’s World Cup, was Nicol Delago’s seventh place. Slightly further back was Irene Curtoni, who finished with the 12th overall time.
