Roger Federer received an important award

Swiss star Roger Federer was honored at the Swiss Sports Awards with the Honor Award, a special rewards his nation wanted to present him with for all he has accomplished in his incredible career. He was honored by Federal Councilor Viola Amherd. The 20-time Slam champion was cheered by a very long standing ovation at the award ceremony and appeared very emotional about yet another recognition received during his amazing career.

“Thank you for the support I have received over the years this means a lot to me,” Roger commented upon receiving the award.

He had previously stated about his recent retirement, “I knew it was going to be very difficult emotionally, I was able to play doubles with Rafael Nadal, I was afraid I wouldn’t make it. I am happy that I managed this phase of my life as well as I could. It was something I was afraid of, but it went better than I thought. I am trying to keep fit by spending a lot of time in the gym, but I have no concrete plans for next year. I will stay in Switzerland during the vacations.”
