France, Karim Benzema says goodbye to national team
Benzema leaves France
Karim Benzema, on his 35th birthday, announced that he is leaving the French national team. In fact, the Real Madrid striker published a post on his Instagram account with a picture of him wearing the “Bleus” jersey and a rather indicative sentence: “I made the efforts and mistakes to be where I am today and I am proud of it! I wrote my story and ours is about to end.”
The Ballon d’Or was unable to play in the World Cup in Qatar due to a quadriceps injury in his left thigh. Benzema ends his time with France having collected 97 appearances and scored 37 goals. The only title he won was the Nations League in 2021, achieved in the final thanks to a 2-1 win over Spain in which the Real Madrid center forward scored the momentary equalizer.
