Marcell Jacobs, another test ahead of European indoor
Marcell Jacobs in France
Marcell Jacobs’ schedule for the indoor season is beginning to take shape. After confirmation that he will make his debut in the 60 meters on February 4 in Lodz, Poland, it was announced today that he will compete at the French meet in Liévin, a Gold stop on the World Athletics Indoor Tour, scheduled for Wednesday, February 15. For the world indoor champion and European record holder in the distance, with a formidable 6.41 winning the rainbow final in Belgrade, it will be the fourth consecutive participation in the transalpine meeting where he has won the last two editions.
Returning from the month-long gathering in Dubai, which began last Dec. 29 and continues until Jan. 28, the two-time Olympic gold medalist (100 and 4×100) will then be competing in the world indoor circuit to face some of the best sprinters around. A series of engagements, some of which have yet to be made official, that will lead him toward the highlight of the winter: the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul (March 2-5) to defend the title he won two years ago in Torun, the first of his triumphs at the international level, while waiting for the summer season hinged on the World Championships in August in Budapest.
