Cortina, Olympia gets beautiful for a three-day firestorm
Olympia makes herself look good
After the green light from the FIS (international ski federation), which carried out the customary “snow control” over the weekend, work began on Monday, January 9, on the Olympia of the Tofane in preparation for the three-day Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup, which, organized by the Cortina Foundation, will bring the world’s top speed performers to Cortina d’Ampezzo for a long weekend that, from Friday, January 20 to Sunday, January 22, will see the unfolding in order of a super-G, a downhill and another super-G.
Some 50 people, coordinated by Matteo Gobbo, will be working all this week to assemble the nets and complete the procedures necessary to make Olympia top-notch for the practice and race days.
“It has begun with the setting up of the A nets, the first step of the preparation,” Gobbo explains, “In the coming days we will proceed with the arrangement of the other protections and everything necessary to ensure the smooth running of practices and competitions and the complete safety of the athletes. Thanks to the synergy with the Alpine Troops Command, to collaborate with our men there are also about 20 soldiers from the Seventh Alpine Regiment.”
