Perugia unbeatable, is in Champions quarterfinals
Perugia in the quarters
Win number five in the round (26th of the season), first place secured, direct qualification to the quarterfinals.
These are the good news coming out of Ljubljana where Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia won in four sets over hosts Ach Volleyball on the fifth day of Pool E of the Champions League, continued its immaculate march in the international arena as well and flew directly to the second round of the knockout phase of the event.
It does so at the end of a match that coach Anastasi’s boys led with authority in the first two sets, unleashing a concrete and effective game. In the third set the reaction of the hosts, pushed by the warmth of their audience, and a drop in the HCL half of the court allowed Ach to shorten the distance. Vehemently, however, the Block Devils’ comeback in the fourth fraction. Determined to close out the match, the bianconeri started off on a high note with service and attack on stellar levels posting a 5-19 partial that put a damper on any hopes of the Slovenian lineup.
