Felix Auger-Aliassime sides with Matteo Berrettini
Aliassime gives advice to Berrettini
Felix Auger-Aliassime indulged in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in which, among the many topics he touched on, he also talked about Matteo Berrettini, who has received more than one criticism in the last period: “We always send each other a few messages, but I confess that I have not seen the photos. In the age of social media, it is difficult to keep the private persona separate from the public one. I tell Matteo not to worry about judgments and to continue doing what he thinks is best for him.”
He then revealed his big goal for 2023: “I work to win a Grand Slam. Since I have been on the circuit, I have improved every year in terms of my level of play and ranking, I want to do the same this year. The goal is to be better than I was the year before. But because of the way I played in 2022, obviously the expectations are even higher. There’s more pressure as you get higher but I’m happy to be in a position to aim for the big results.”
Finally, he concluded by commenting on yet another record achieved by Novak Djokovic, who on Monday hit 377 in the number of total weeks as world number one: “It’s phenomenal. Our generation maybe would hope that he wouldn’t last too much longer, but really we just have to take him as an example. I don’t know if any of us can have his longevity at such a high level.”
