Manchester United, historic humiliation at Liverpool: 7-0 to Reds
A historic blowout, rewriting the books of English soccer statistics.
Liverpool handed Manchester United a humiliating 7-0 thrashing, in a match that should have been an even contest between two of the Premier League’s big names, but instead turned out to be a catwalk for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds. The sensational victory propels the team to fifth place, -3 from the Champions zone currently closed by Tottenham. Escorted but still third, however, were the Red Devils.
Moreover, everything is consumed in little more than one half, as Liverpool finds the lead only in the 43rd minute with Gakpo. What then becomes historic is the second half, opened in the 47th minute by Nuñez’s double header. In the 50th minute Gakpo completes his personal one-two, then Klopp’s team’s big guns go wild and soon imitate him. In fact, between 66′ and 83′ came Salah’s double as well, while in the 75′ it was Nuñez who reached two personal goals. Finally, in the 88th minute, it was Firmino who closed the accounts of one of the darkest nights in history for Manchester United.
