Sofia Goggia does not start again in Are
One run for Sofia
Only one run for Sofia Goggia, engaged in the giant slalom in Are, Sweden. The Bergamasque star finished her effort in 34th place, more than three seconds behind the leader, the unleashed U.S. Mikaela Shiffrin, and thus was not eligible for the second leg.
Shiffrin had an overwhelming run, finishing with a time of 55″16, in which she trimmed 58 hundredths off Canada’s Valerie Grenier. Third was Austria’s Franziska Gritsch at 93 hundredths, edging out Federica Brignone, the best Italian skier of the day, by 11 hundredths. Twelfth was Marta Bassino at 1″73, and Roberta Melesi and Elisa Platino, respectively 24th at 2″56 and 25th at 2″61, will also be protagonists of the second run.
