Jannik Sinner speaks after defeat against Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner is clear-headed after the Indian Wells semifinal loss to Carlos Alcaraz: “I think my match in general was good, but I think the biggest difference came down to the performance of my serve. I definitely did not serve well.”

The Azure knows that that fundamental is his weak point with the stronger players: “Carlos definitely served better than me, so he deserved to win. I had my chances, especially in the first set where I also had some bad luck. I got a set point and in the tie-break I had the hesitation on that forehand that I didn’t follow to the net like I should have. Then also in the second I had chances, like a 30-30 where I hit the tape.”

The difficulties in putting firsts: “Yes unfortunately today it was like that, even during the warm-up from this point of view the feelings were not positive. But this is tennis, there are days when you feel great, when you hit the ball you feel good vibes with all your shots and other days when you have to struggle more because the tennis you can express does not reflect your usual standards. That’s how it is, you have to accept it and try to do the best with what you have. Going back to the serve, my team and I are perfectly aware that it still needs to be improved a lot, but at the same time the improvements made in the last year have been extremely important,” are the words reported by Ubitennis.
