Caprari pegs Torino back: Monza and granata at arm’s length
A tie that keeps the two opponents paired and ranked.
Torino and Monza draw 1-1 in the only Sunday 3 p.m. match in Serie A. It’s a result that ensures both teams reach 46 points, in ninth and tenth place with one length ahead of Bologna and two ahead of the pair Udinese and Sassuolo, three teams all engaged in on Monday. Sanabria and Caprari netted, after the hosts had had Miranchuk’s goal cancelled out in the first half for a hand foul.
The first half saw Torino particularly on the ball, with Di Gregorio good on Vlasic, Miranchuk and Vojvoda. Monza, on the other hand, showed up mostly with Ciurria, but was saved by Sanabria’s hand contact when Miranchuk went in on goal. The goal that unlocked the match came in the 46th minute thanks to Sanabria’s fine diagonal pass, Carlos Augusto and the usual Miranchuk severely committed Milinkovic-Savic and Di Gregorio, then in the 86th minute Pessina and Petagna built the action that allowed Caprari to find the equalizer. In the final great granata protests for a hold in the area by Rovella on Ricci, but the result does not change anymore.
