Paolo Bertolucci doubtful about Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon
Paolo Bertolucci gave an interview to Fanpage in which he analyzed Matteo Berrettini’s complicated season. “In tennis it is impossible to win if you are not at the top. He has this problem with weak abs and he is prone to have these injuries. These continuous shots, hard and stiff accelerations, they are not good for him,” he stressed.
The Italian tennis legend seemed doubtful about the Italian’s use at Wimbledon: “I’m sure he tried to speed up the comeback for grass. But if there’s one surface that doesn’t forgive you, that’s it. I saw that in London he’s practicing, he’s trying. But I don’t know, three shots from a standstill doesn’t mean anything. Anyway, he’s been stationary for three months, and whatever happens, if he plays, it will be a miracle.”
“It’s not a slump, it’s a physical problem. Then if people want to put certain things in the middle… If he was engaged to Francamaria Fraschetti nobody would care. Like other tennis players don’t have relationships with other women. I can’t stand this stuff. He plays for himself: if he wins he makes good money, if he loses he pays. He doesn’t have to account to anyone,” Bertolucci concluded.
