F1, Eddie Irvine’s predictions on Ferrari’s resurgence
The Briton was vice World Champion in 1999 with Ferrari
Irvine is a former F1 driver with a distinguished past. He has won 4 GPs in his career, all with Ferrari and was vice World Champion with the Rossa in 1999. In short, his relationship with the Cavallino is very strong.
The class of 1965 believes it will take time to see a competitive Ferrari again, “You can’t change the structure of the team and expect progress. It’s like cutting down a tree to make it grow back bigger and stronger, you have to give it time. I’m not sure it was the right choice but once you make it you have to wait for the plant to grow back.I don’t think Ferrari can return to the top before two or three years,” his words to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Irvine also certifies Verstappen’s talent with an important comparison to Schumacher, his former teammate at Ferrari: “Does he remember Michael? Yes. In the past he was very aggressive, and not particularly correct, not anymore. He remains very fast but knows how to wait for the right moment for his moves. I don’t see who can disturb him in the near future.”
