Tragic surfing accident, Mikala Jones dies

The surfing world mourns the tragic death of Mikala Jones. For the Hawaiian, a 44-year-old professional surfer, an accident in Indonesia off the Mentawai Islands was fatal.

The man bled to death from a cut in the groin area, at the level of the femoral artery: it was probably caused by the surfboard fin.

Jones, author of some of the most beautiful and well-known photos and videos among surfers around the world, was immediately rescued, but there was nothing he could do: he had lost too much blood.

Isabella Lokelani, his daughter, wanted to remember her father with a touching post on Instagram: “I’m glad he was doing what he loved most. Life will never be the same without you. I miss you so much, I would do anything to have one more moment with you, even fighting, then laughing out loud. Thank you for teaching me so many life lessons and always being there for me.”
