Trieste officiates another renewal

After the renewals of Stefano Bossi and Lodovico Deangeli, Pallacanestro Trieste announced another important renewal.

“Giovanni Vildera is the third confirmation in the biancorosso roster: the center from Montebelluna will face his second season in the Pallacanestro Trieste jersey,” reads the note issued by the biancorosso club.

“Giovanni’s excellent fundamentals, his basketball IQ and several often underestimated skills will impact the team’s game in a subtle, but incisive way,” emphasized Pallacanestro Trieste General Manager Michael Arcieri. “His ability to carry blocks, his talent to play under the basket and exploit the backboard will be key ingredients for a style of play that emphasizes transition basketball and a free-flowing, wide-spaced offense.

Born in 1995 in Montebelluna, Giovanni Vildera grew up in the youth teams of Petrarca Padova first and then Reyer Venezia, accumulating at a very young age – 16 – his first appearances at the senior level on loan to Favaro, also committing with the National Team, participating in the Under 16 European Championship in 2011. In 2014 came his first experience in Serie A2 with the jersey of Omegna, where he stayed for two seasons before moving to Siena. In the two seasons spent in Tuscany he continued his development, then moving on to Biella and Rieti: it was in Lazio that Vildera established himself as one of the most reliable players in the category, consistently exceeding the 10-point average, earning with his performance the call to Serie A, in Treviso. In Veneto, Vildera is an important part of coach Menetti’s bench, contributing to the playoffs. From Treviso, Giovanni moved to Ferrara in A2, scoring nearly 10 points and averaging more than 5 rebounds, and rising further in the playoffs with more than 11 points and 6 rebounds per game.

His arrival in Trieste last season saw him permanently in coach Legovich’s rotation: Vildera put up 4 points in the 2022-2023 championship in more than 11 average minutes of usage on the parquet. This is a player who makes physicality his most important weapon, seasoned with great aggressiveness near the iron.
