Franco Baresi and Filippo Galli were also there to pay their last respects to Giovanni Lodetti: the funeral was held at the church in Caselle Lurani, in the province of Lodi.
Representing AC Milan at the ceremony was the vice-president and former Rossoneri captain: the meneghino club’s banner and a wreath were also in the church. Also present was Gianfelice Facchetti, who recalled the close relationship between his father Giacinto and Lodetti.
Before the funeral è a message from Lodi Bishop Maurizio Malvestiti was read, while the town parish priest Don Gianfranco recalled the moral stature of the former Milan midfielder: "A life dedicated to the good of others" are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
