Federico Pellegrino’s condition is growing in the Tour de Ski, now in its fourth stage (out of the seven planned) with the men’s free technique sprint in Davos, Switzerland. The champion from Valle d’Aosta è finished third in the final won by a margin by Frenchman Lucas Chanavat over Swede Edvin Anger, allowing Italy to take its first podium of the season in the World Cup, but above all Pellegrino took away the satisfaction of finishing among the top three finishers, in at least one race of the major circuit, for the 12th year in a row.

In the women’s field, Linn Svahn won a clear victory. The Swede dominated the six-man final in which she edged out Norway’s Kristine Stavaas Skistad and Jessie Diggins of the U.S. Out of the podium finished the other Swedes Maja Dahlqvist and Johanna Hagstroem and Norway’s Mathilde Myhrvold. Out in the quarterfinals were Nicole Monsorno, Federica Sanfilippo and Caterina Ganz; Anna Comarella had not qualified. Thursday, Jan. 4, the program features the pursuits: women at 10:45 a.m., men at 1:45 p.m. with live television coverage on Raisport and Eurosport.
